The Gomoa Central District Assembly held a site meeting on February 26, 2026, to assess the progress of major infrastructure projects across the district. The exercise brought together key stakeholders, including the District Chief Executive, Hon. Hackman Kobina Aidoo, the District Coordinating Director, Madam Rubby Sitsope Besagah, Technical Officers, Community Representatives, and Contractors responsible for the various projects.
The meeting commenced at 10:08 a.m. with an opening prayer led by Ms. Bertha Yankey, who committed the day’s activities into God’s hands and prayed for wisdom, guidance, and fruitful deliberations.
In his opening remarks, the District Engineer emphasized the importance of regular site meetings in ensuring effective monitoring and quality delivery of projects. Such engagements, he noted, enable stakeholders to evaluate progress, promptly address challenges, and guarantee the execution of works in accordance with approved specifications and timelines.
A total of six project sites—covering both education and health infrastructure—were scheduled for inspection and discussion during the meeting.

The projects inspected form part of the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen education and healthcare infrastructure within the district.

Project Highlights
1. Maintenance of 6-Unit Classroom Blocks at Gomoa Obuasi and Nyankuadze D/A School
This project focuses on the renovation and maintenance of two six-unit classroom blocks to restore the buildings to safe and functional learning spaces.
The works include:
Rehabilitation of the roofing system
Repair or replacement of defective doors and windows
Concrete repair works where necessary
Repainting of both interior and exterior surfaces
General finishing improvements
The District Chief Executive emphasized the need for a comprehensive renovation approach rather than selective repairs to ensure durability and long-term value.
Additionally, the District Coordinating Director and the Community Development Officer proposed the inclusion of access ramps to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The District Engineer reported that the project is currently about 60% complete, with remaining works expected to be completed under close supervision.
2. Construction of a 6-Unit Classroom Block with 3-Seater WC Toilet at Gomoa Obuasi
This project involves the construction of a new six-unit classroom block to help address classroom congestion and improve the learning environment at the school.
The facility will include:
Six classrooms
A staff office
A store room
A three-seater WC toilet facility
Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve both academic activities and administrative operations at the school.
3. Construction of a 2-Unit KG Block with 2-Seater WC Toilet at Gomoa Afransi SDA
This project aims to enhance early childhood education infrastructure by providing a modern and safe learning environment for kindergarten pupils.
The facility includes:
Two kindergarten classrooms
A two-seater WC toilet facility
The project is expected to improve the comfort, safety, and sanitation conditions for young learners while supporting quality early childhood education in the community.
4. Construction of a 3-Unit Classroom Block with 3-Seater WC Toilet at Gomoa Afransi
To support the growing student population in the area, the Assembly is constructing a three-unit classroom block at Gomoa Afransi.
The facility will include:
Three classrooms
A three-seater WC toilet facility
This project will help reduce overcrowding in classrooms and provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Health Infrastructure Projects
5. Expansion and Furnishing of CHPS Compound to Health Centre at Gomoa Ekwamkrom
This project involves the expansion and upgrading of an existing CHPS Compound into a fully functional Health Centre.
The upgrade will include:
Expansion of the facility to accommodate additional services
Provision of medical equipment and furniture
Improvements to infrastructure to enhance healthcare delivery
The project is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare services for residents of Gomoa Ekwamkrom and surrounding communities.
6. Expansion and Furnishing of CHPS Compound to Health Centre at Gomoa Asebu/Pomadze
Similarly, the CHPS Compound at Gomoa Asebu/Pomadze is being expanded and upgraded into a Health Centre to strengthen healthcare delivery in the area.
The project will provide:
Expanded health infrastructure
Furnished medical spaces
Improved capacity for patient care
Upon completion, the upgraded facility will help bring essential healthcare services closer to the people, reducing travel time for residents seeking medical care.
