Over the weekend, the Gomoa Central District Assembly organized massive clean-up exercises at Gomoa Achiase electoral area to rid the environment of filth.
The exercise is aimed at creating the necessary awareness to all and sundry to be conscious of the environment and collectively contribute to improving sanitation and public health.
The exercise, which lasted for over four hours, was led by the Honourable District Chief Executive, Hon. Hackman Kobina Aidoo and other officials of the Assembly on Saturday November 1st 2025.
An enthusiastic crowd of people participated in the clean-up exercise, which started at 6: 30a.m and ended at 11:00a.m. Enthused by the attendance, the Hon. District Chief Executive thanked participants for responding to his call and seeing the need to participate in the cleaning exercise. He advised residents of the two communities to keep the environment clean and safe from illness.
Speaking to the media after the clean-up exercise, Honourable Hackman Kobina Aidoo advised the public to keep the environment clean by desisting from indiscriminate refuse dumping and littering and pledge the Assembly’s support to providing adequate communal refuse containers in the district to curb unauthored dumping in communities. He announced the six (6) communal refuse containers procured by the Assembly and their delivery to beneficiary communities of which Gomoa Achiase electoral area is a beneficiary of two (2) of the facilities
Activities undertaken

- Weeding and sweeping of principal street and thoroughfares
- Cleaning and picking of polythene bags
- Gathering and disposing of refuse
- Desilting of choked gutters/drains
- Sweeping of the market.
