Yesterday, at my office, the Gomoa Central District Disaster Management Committee was formally inaugurated in accordance with Act 927 (2016).
The ceremony was supervised by the Regional NADMO Director, Mr. E. K. Daewood Mensah. By law, the District Chief Executive chairs this committee, which includes mandatory and co-opted members drawn from key state institutions and agencies.
The National Disaster Management Committee exists to coordinate preparedness, response and recovery efforts in times of disaster. At the district level, this mandate ensures that we are not only ready to respond when emergencies strike but also proactive in preventing and mitigating risks that threaten lives, property and livelihoods.
On behalf of H.E. the President, I wish to reaffirm government’s commitment to equipping and supporting this committee to function as the law prescribes. Together, we will strengthen resilience, protect our people and safeguard development in Gomoa Central.
We count on the collaboration of all stakeholders and the community to make this work effective, as disaster management is a shared responsibility.
Your Servant
Hon. Hackman Kobena Aidoo
